Abstract

Psychologists have the knowledge to understand and treat other people. However, they often do not apply this knowledge to their own care. Specific professional Self-Care involves engaging in any activity, strategy, or behaviour that is effective in reducing stress and achieving and maintaining Work-Life Balance. Therefore, this narrative review was conducted to understand what has been produced on the topic in recent years. The search for articles was carried out during January 2024 in Pubmed and 11 articles were selected. The results showed that many psychologists feel exhausted and blame themselves for it. As a Self-Care method, the most cited was therapy, but mindfulness, distraction and writing strategies also appeared. Within the cognitivebehavioral approaches it was demostrated that therapy is not wide spread. The question arises whether, in avoiding therapy itself, some other Self-Care strategy could be used.
