Abstract

The objective of this narrative review is to present an update on children ´s emotional self-regulation, emphasizing its conceptual development, the instruments available for its evaluation instruments and the importance of an integrated psychological assessment. Various sources of information were reviewed, especially journal articles in specialized databases, as well as reference authors in the local environment. It concludes by pointing out the importance of this concept in various fields, such as basic and clinical training in areas of evaluation and psychotherapeutic treatment. The importance of the study of children ´s emotional self-regulation in childhood is also pointed out, since it is directly linked to the processes of mental health, socialization and academic activities.
