Abstract

The main objective of this article was to review the most frequent psychiatric
referral reasons reported by the Regulatory Center of Urgencies and Emergencies and Disasters (CRUED) of the District of Cartagena during the period between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2018 and compare the information with that available in the current literature. Methodology: the data
were obtained from the CRUED blog of the Cartagena District and were selected according to their clinical and epidemiological relevance. For the study, a
descriptive, correlational, longitudinal trend type design was used. The total
population during the period between 2012 and 2018 was 2717 participants.
The SPSS statistical program (v. 26) was used for data analysis and initially a basic description of the sample was obtained using measures of central tendency based on the sociodemographic variables analyzed (gender, life cycle
and year of the report). Subsequently, by means of the non-parametric chisquare test, it was analyzed whether significant differences were established between the reasons for referral and the demographic variables (sex and life cycle). Results: the most frequent reason for referral was suicide attempts, which were more frequent in people under 28 years of age and in females.
Psychotic disorders were more common in adult men. Mood disorders and substance- related disorders were not as common as expected. No differences
were observed in the results between the years analyzed.
