Abstract

Attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity is a pathology prevalent during childhood that, until a few decades ago, was considered a neurobiological entity. However, subsequent research has pointed out the importance of family relationships in their clinical evolution. It has been explained that family factors in children with ADHD, are significant indicators of its persistence over time. For this reason, is very relevant to understand the role that families play in children with ADHD. Objective: to review the influence of family relationships on the evolution of ADHD. Method: the review is complemented with the presentation of a clinical case. Conclusion: if pharmacological therapy is compared with multimodal treatment, the latter presents better results. The following databases were used in the literature search: PubMed (MEDLINE), ClinicalKey (Elsevier), SpringerLink, Wiley Online Library, EBSCO Host, and UV Digital Library (Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile).
