Abstract

Video games began to emerge in recent years as an important field of study for research in Psychology, being mental strength one of the most studied variables. Objective of the present work: to analyze the correlations between mental toughness, passion and intolerance to frustration, and to determine their main predictors. Materials and method: a sample of 380 first-person shooter, FPS players, residents of the City of Buenos Aires and the Province of Buenos Aires was formed, who were administered the following instruments: a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Frustration Discomfort Scale (FDS), the Passion Scale and the Mental Toughness Scale (MTS). The results showed positive correlations with the dimensions of passion and negative ones with intolerance to frustration; while harmonious passion was the greatest positive predictor for mental toughness, discomfort and emotional uncertainty were found as the main negative predictors.
