Emotional Impact During COVID-19 Pandemic in the Febrile Emergency Unit of Muñiz Hospital (Buenos Aires, 2022)

The objective of the work is to describe the emotional impact through stressful events, perceived discomfort, fears and to evaluate the strengths of the health personnel of the Febrile Emergency Unit of the Muñiz Hospital. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was car- ried out, an ad hoc questionnaire of 28 questions was administered, during 4/1/2022 to 6/30/2022. Sociodemographic information was obtained, descriptive statistics was applied in frequencies and per- centages; means and standard deviation. The Stata 14.1 program was used for data analysis. The sample was made up of 66 workers, 71% women and 29% men, the average age was 35 years, between 21 and 62 years (M= 36.18; DS=8.19). Results: In stressful events, the signif- icant results were work overload, concern for the health of patients and situations of family aggression. Perceived discomfort, stress, and physical/emotional exhaustion are significant values. Within fears, the fear of infecting or the death of a family member from COVID-19 were representative. Health personnel described family and adaptability as strengths. Work overload, concern about not being able to help a patient, aggression received from family members, stress, physical/emotional exhaustion, fear of death, and contagion from a family member by COVID-19 are prominent variables
