Introduction: Suicide is a major global cause of mortality, and suicide attempt is a mandatory reportable event in Colombia. Objective: To describe sociodemographic characteristics and factors associated with suicide reattempts in patients reported in Cartagena during 2023. Methods: Retrospective cross- sectional study based on mandatory surveillance records of the Suicide Attempt event (356). Bivariate analysis and hierarchical logistic regression were performed, including sociodemographic, social, environmental, and psychiatric variables. Results: A total of 832 patients were included; 37.5 % had a history of previous suicide attempts. Older age, being married, and hospitalization acted as protective factors. Conversely, being a minor under institutional care, history of physical abuse, psychoactive substance use, persistent suicidal ideation, the use of sharp weapons, and jumping in front of a vehicle increased the risk of suicide reattempt. Conclusions: The factors associated with suicide reattempt were consistent with international literature, highlighting potentially modifiable psychosocial and psychiatric variables through prevention and follow-up strategies.
