As part of a study that explores the foundation and development of child neuropsychiatry, this paper aims to establish the influence of Sante De Sanctis on the work of Lanfranco Ciampi and to describe other theoric effects included in it. to this end, Ciampi's academic and scientific training with De Sanctis in Italy is studied, as well as the development of the conceptions of educability, character, temperament, instinct and environment. Likewise, the conceptions of other italian authors such as Césare Lombroso, Nicola Pende y Agostino Gemelli considered by Ciampi as interlocutors of his work, are described and analyzed. The main hypothesis of this research is that Ciampi´s theoric development on Child neuropsychiatry reveals the conceptual influence of his teacher De Sanctis. Methodologically, this study takes a retrospective ex post facto design. From the review of primary and secondary documentary sources, it proceeds to analyze them according to techniques of critical.analysis of discourse.
