Burnout Syndrome in a Population of Foreign Postgraduate Students in Argentina

Economic globalization conditions migratory flows that affect millions of people, including students with academic goals. Migration involves potential factor of stress and burnout. The concept of migration and academic burnout is described, evaluating their presence and risk factors in a sample of university migrants and non-migrants (N= 60). Moderate levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization were found. Academic, personal and cultural factors associated with migration are described. It is recommended the design of policies in the perspective of mental health prevention through the study of economic, political, cultural and anthropological factors associated with the problem.
