Stabilization Conception Considerations in Schizophrenic Patients

Abstract

The present article aims to characterize the term "stabilization" applied to cases of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders as used in the field of mental health. Based on this characterization, a comparison of the multiple meanings of this term is made in various professional and health care contexts, highlighting the legal, psychiatric and psychological dimensions. In relation to specifically psychological concepciones, special emphasis is placed on cognitive-behavioral and psychoanalytic approaches according to their different developments. This conceptual analysis allows to account for the clinical bias that occurs in the conception and praxis of the interdisciplinary team involved with this type of patients in psychiatric hospitalization devices.
