Abstract

The basic functions of clinical psychology are research, prevention, evaluation, and assistance. However, the academic transmission of clinical psychology in Argentina prioritized evaluation and assistance, producing diverse biases and deficits. This work focuses on the deficit in the academic transmission of the research in clinical psychology. The main aim of this study was to demonstrate the importance of clinical psychology research and to link it with possible applications in prevention by addressing suicide attempts in Jujuy, Argentina. To do this, guidelines of possible prevention programs were exemplified, that would derive, on the one hand, from evidence based on populations from developed countries and, on the other, from evidence based on local population, and their implications were discussed.
